#3083 SET UPGRADE: 75440 AT-AT Diorama

We transformed the new midi-scale AT-AT into a full display diorama, placing it right in the middle of the Battle of Hoth. Instead of standing alone, the walker now advances toward a rebel shield generator, giving the model a clear sense of action and story.

When we first saw the set, it felt like it was missing something — previous midi-scale releases were all ships, and this one seemed perfect for a diorama conversion. With no recent Hoth diorama sets, this felt like the ideal opportunity to bring that format back.

The original set already offers a solid build with some fun techniques, but it struggles to decide whether it’s a display model or part of a larger scene. By integrating it into a base compatible with official diorama sets, we gave it a more cohesive identity.

We built up the snowy terrain using layered plates and tiles, adding subtle elevation and texture to the landscape. Around the AT-AT, we included trenches, defensive turrets, and scattered crates to bring the rebel side to life.

To enhance the realism, we upgraded the AT-AT’s guns and added environmental storytelling like footprints in the snow and rocks breaking through the icy surface. A custom quote tile and a small Snowspeeder complete the scene and tie everything together.

What do you think of this upgrade — and should LEGO bring back more diorama sets?
