#1275: SET REVIEWS: 80024 The Legendary Flower Fruit Mountain

Today we’re kicking off a series of reviews of the new Monkie Kid wave of sets with its largest and priciest set: The Legendary Flower Fruit Mountain! We think it’s safe to say: whether you’re a fan of the line or not, this set demands your attention! Its simple yet striking color scheme and truly impressive and unmatched rock work to create the home of the Monkey King are just the beginning of the depths of this build. Though only shown briefly in Season 1 of the show, we hope to see more Flower Fruit Mountain it in the future and hear more about who these cast of characters are.

We also took a moment to provide some historical background for the inspiration for the set as explained in the instruction manual by the set designer, Lin Li-Yu. We believe that this gives a deeper appreciation to the set and its nod at traditional Chinese art. We hope you enjoy this new part of our review style!

We were sent this by LEGO but our view is unbiased and we aim to provide a unique review from the perspective of a MOC builder and fan of building techniques. We score sets out of 100, giving 20 points each for a variety of factors.

Overall, we were extremely impressed with the creativity of this set, its part selection, and value for money. The minifigures and building techniques didn’t hurt either. Be sure to swipe through to see our full reasonings!

Will you be picking up this set to add to your collection when it’s release March 1st? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned for more Monkie Kid reviews from the new wave!

Note: Stair and hood piece are actually not new pieces, just new colours of those pieces.
