#2584 TIPS: How to Find Alternative Builds on Rebrickable

Bought a set duplicate? Itching to build more? Here’s a guide to alt builds on Rebrickable!

What ARE alt builds you ask? Alt builds take official sets and provide alternate building ideas, allowing you to stretch your building experience even farther. @rebrickable is a website that hosts instructions made by fellow AFOLs. Some are free; some cost. This is a great way to breathe life into old sets and to find ways to build more with what you already have!

When looking for alt builds, it’s an easy 3️⃣ step process:

1️⃣ Go to Rebrickable.com and click the search button.

2️⃣ Enter your set number or name.

3️⃣ Click “Alt Build” or the gavel icon.

(We like to think of the gavel icon as smashing bricks into a new design!)

You get 3 different types of builds to choose from: Alternative Builds use just one set. Partial Builds use multiple copies of a set. And Modifications use a set plus extras.

@daytonbrickshop used Rebrickable for ideas to help build their medieval village on display.

Be aware that these models are not vetted by LEGO, so some may not be as sturdy as you’re expecting. But all in all, we love using Rebrickable! Have you tried any Rebrickable alt builds? Comment and/or tag us in your stories with pics of your builds – we would love to see them!
